"Time is a wealth of change"
One idea is to imitate a traditionally school photo, with all the subjects situated how you would expect to see a school photo set out but actually have a variety of aged people in the photo. Starting with a set of people in year 7, then college students, then middle aged adults and then on to older people.
I feel that the statement "Time is a wealth of change" would work perfectly along side this image and it would a narrative to the photograph and the photograph will illustrate the fact that time is in fact a wealth of change and you can see it right in front of your eyes and it happens without you realising it and without expectation.
"Aging is a natural process of life. It begins the moment we are born. Strangely enough, most of us live under the illusion that we and our loved ones will never become old. When old age arrives, we are often unprepared. The natural order becomes reversed. The young help to care for the old. Those who need to be taken care of for the first time have a hard time accepting that they need help. This condition is a product of our culture that does everything it can to conceal the loss of youth. Confronting this reality is the beginning of a healthy relationship to life, aging and death."
---- Again, similar to "time is a wealth of change", I think the above poem is a hard hitting statement and very true; it is something that every single person in society can associate with and can understand so I feel it may be beneficial if I incorporated this into some of my work and use my photography to illustrate it.
DECISON FOR FINAL PIECE.
I decided to portray "time" by doing a traditional portrait shoot where the face of the people in the photo is the centre of attention and I am going to ask if they could bring something along with them which represents their life and a photo of their selves from when they were younger so I can show the effect that the progression of time has on people physically.
I am also going to ask if they could tell me one of their fondest memories and see how well they can recall it. This demonstrates to me the fact that although we psychically age, mentally, we retain the same memories and we mentally feel the same as we did from when the memories occurred- even if our bodies cannot keep up anymore.
